Don't just ride, ride higher.
You may think that the world’s biggest jackass works in your office, but no, he’s right here. Romulus was officially measured on Friday, February 8th 2013 at a whopping 17 hands high (One hand equals 4 inches. A hand is the standard unit used to measure horses, mules, and donkeys) that’s 68 inches at the top of the shoulder or 5 ½ feet tall! His brother, Remus, is a bare two inches shorter. Romulus and Remus are members of a rare breed called American Mammoth Jackstock, founded by a group of dedicated breeders in the USA’s early days which included no less of an individual than George Washington himself! The American Livestock Breeds Conservancy estimates their numbers at only 3 to 4 thousand individuals at this time. Their owners, Phil and Cara Barker Yellott, rescued them in October of 2012 in severely emaciated condition. The boys live in Waxahachie, TX (Everything is bigger in Texas, right?) but can frequently be seen at fairs, expos, and special events around the country. They love visitors at their home farm by appointment, especially visitors bearing bread. They’re addicted to carbs! ﷯
Cara and Phil have a few simple guidelines for visitors: “You may pat our big asses and you may scratch our big asses, but please don’t slap or pinch our big asses!” Follow Romulus and his “little” brother on facebook and twitter, for all the big ass jokes you can stand!
